Update on fires in Kouga area

Whilst the Knysna has been the devastated by the fires that have swept through the Southern Coast, Kouga has been not been spared with the Thornhill in the Kouga district also experiencing raging fires requiring some 250 people being evacuated from the Thornhill region yesterday.

Concern from homeowners calling St Francis Property Owners Association regarding smoke being detected in St France can rest assured that St Francis is in no danger. The smoke from the fires on the Southern Coast are being blown up the coast driven by gale force winds and pose no threat.  St Francis Property Owners wishes to assure you that there are no fires in the area and the recently formed St Francis Disaster Volunteer Group (SFDVG) are on full standby should any threat arise within the region.

During the devastating fires that St Francis experienced in January 2016 there was a huge outpouring of support by way of equipment, foodstuffs and water, blankets, medical supplies and money to support us. A fund has been set up where local St Francis residents have already shown huge support and thus we appeal to you as a property owner, to support this appeal in any way you can. The following appeal was made on the SFDVG Facebook and Whatsapp portals.
